Thinking

Thinking

I love the different thought. Sometimes, it lends a different twist to your thinking.

Last month, I got certified in TRP, the Totally Responsible Person. It’s about staying positive no matter the circumstances, to avoid the “victim mentality”. During the several days of the course, I heard something that really hit home:

“What if life isn’t happening TO you, but FOR you?”

Hmm.. this got me to thinking. Our experiences are our teachers…if we let them be.

So much of our angst comes from our thinking. See the iceberg—the tip is your behavior which we can all see. Below are thoughts and emotions. That is where it gets interesting, my friends! This is why emotional intelligence and thought control is so valued.

We have to mind our mind.

It’s so natural to look at “facts” and come to a conclusion or assumption. We are GOOD at our stories. But are they really true? With an untrue assumption, we can really get worked up! And we take silly actions thinking it’s all true. And when we discover it isn’t, then we’re like Rosanna Dana of Saturday Night Live fame… “never mind!”

But what if it isn’t? What if we can remain curious and keep our emotions and thoughts in check?

I, for one, think we could actually have a crack at happiness.
